Matt Cutts, head of web spam at Google, has this week published a video which, in essence, explains how Google works. In his back to basics approach, he outlines the ways in which the search engine bots crawl web pages and what they are looking for when processing a search. The video is well worth taking a few moments to watch and it gives a brilliant insight into how Google works.
I won’t waste time going into too much depth about what the video covers, as you’d be best off watching it all the way through. However, the main outline is that Cutts explains why it takes time for a site to be crawled, in some instances, and why it is essential to have content on your website. These are both things we get asked about on a regular basis and hopefully clarification from the big G themselves will answer any questions you may have.
