Some of you may have noticed that Google have rolled out a new look! And it’s pretty obvious what they’re trying to do. In Google’s consistent effort to make our search world more personalised we see an increase in Google pointing us to more to the right hand column where you will find specifics relating to universal search and filtering of results.
Google has always maintained that search should be personalised and highly relevant to your requirements. Previously the options for filtering have been tucked away behind a reveal link making them un-used by most users.
But what you will also find in the new left hand column are search verticals that aren’t normally queried in the standard universal search; including Google Finance and Google Code.

This should send a big signal to SEO’s and internet marketers out there that Google is becoming more personalised than ever and not every body is seeing the same results as their neighbour any more. So, maybe it’s time to stop focussing on rankings and think about relevant traffic.
